The trip from Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport to Niseko takes around 2-3 hours depending on winter road conditions and traffic. There are a number of ways to get the resort, depending on your budget and priorities.

Bus - convenient

Coach transfers offer a convenient airport pickup and drop-off at The Hirafu Welcome Centre. They operate 5-6 services per day in each direction, meaning you can usually catch a bus without too much waiting time. Whiteliner fares are priced from ¥4,000 per adult and ¥2,000 per child one-way. Discounts often apply for round trips.

Train - scenic

The train goes via the seaside town of Otaru with a picturesque setting of the coastline, where the snow meets the ocean. This option is longer, and requires a quick change in Otaru. If you have the time, not much luggage and enjoy train rides, then it is definitely worth it. Catch the train to Kutchan station, where your accommodation concierge may pick you up or you can easily take a short taxi ride. The journey from New Chitose Airport to Kutchan is around ¥2,900.

TIP

We prefer to take a private transfer to remove the hassle of carting around luggage. A door-to-door service is well welcome after a long flight. After all, we want to be well rested when we arrive in Niseko.
