Working Holiday Visa Japan UK Citizen

 

“The annual number of British citizens permitted on the Working Holiday Scheme is currently limited to 1000.

Acceptance of applications will be closed when the number of visas issued reaches this number.”

 

Age: 18-30 at the time of application and must be a first time applicant

Processing Time: 2-4 weeks. Save yourself the stress and apply well in advance.
You can apply up to 1 year before your entry into Japan, so you have plenty of time to be prepared

Application: Must be a British Citizen who is resident in the United Kingdom

 

Required Documents

  • Valid UK Passport (British Citizen)
  • Visa Application Form, with attached recent passport photo (attachment)
  • Flight details to Japan
  • Resume Form
  • Outline of intended activities Form
  • A letter stating the purpose of your visit as a Working Holiday Maker (this should be typed as one A4 page with applicant’s signature)
  • Either £2,500 in cleared funds (last 3 months bank statements must be shown)
    Or £1,500 and a return or onward journey ticket or a receipt for such.

 

A visa fee will be charged in exchange for the issued visa.
*As of 20/05/2016, this fee was £16.00.

 

From the Japanese Embassy: 

“The Working Holiday Programs are designed to promote international interaction and enhance friendly relationships between Japan and partner countries/regions by providing opportunities for the young people to deepen their understanding about partner countries/regions.

The Working Holiday participants are allowed to work for a certain period of their stay in order to cover the cost of travel funds to travel and stay in partner countries/regions.

 

This program is not designed for persons who mainly intend to work. The applicant's primary purpose of stay should be "holiday" in Japan.

Those who intend to work primarily cannot apply for this visa.

And the Working Holiday participants are strictly prohibited from working at places affecting public morals such as bars, cabarets, nightclubs and etc.
